Never Again

I used to get so scared at night

never knowing wrong from right.

life was never far from a fight

never ever seeing the light.

holding in our anger,

running from any danger,

hiding from those strangers,

darkness was a life saver.

but that anger was in vain

that danger was our own.

that stranger was our mother

that darkness was forever.

love was nothing more

than a dream as far as ever.

our muscles were so sore,

the scars ran to our core.

we never thought we'd love again

but our lives had only just begun.
