Floating Daisies

daisies float
like my heart on a breeze
in the cool pond waters
at the base of the shore.
and though their petals drown,
yours shine on through the night,
like every bright star
in the darkness of the sky.

daisies stand tall
through the late heat of summer,
on a lawn in the garden
barely swaying in the wind.
but their stalks can be crushed,
not just bent, though they try,
while you can withstand anything,
you can make it, you can fly.

daisies grow in bunches
on the side of every road,
and people simply pass them by
like the dirt they stand above.
the same for you I can not say,
you're the only you that I can see.
you can not be replaced,
like a daisy in the dirt,
you're the only one for me
and with me you'll be free.
